What are the benefits of staying in a Disney Resort in Walt Disney World? Where’s the best place to get deals?
Do you get to stay at the park later? Are there discounts on tickets to the parks? Do you get free parking? I am trying to figure out if it is work it to "stay on park" or to stay at the Holiday Inn that says it is also on the resort? Also where is the best place to book a disney vacation? Should I call AAA or join a Disney Club?
Yes, each day one of the parks either open early or stays open late (for Disney Resort guests only). Check here for more details: http://www.disneymadesimple.com/extra_magic_hours.html
If you buy tickets for multiple days at a time, yes there is a discount.

Parking is free (at Disney Resort Hotels) and there is a small fee if you drive to the Theme Park (about $14/car)

The benefits Disney gives you from staying "on-site" out weigh the price you pay for the hotel (in my opinion). Plus, where else can you find such wonderfully themed and magical hotels!!
I have always purchased my packages directly from Disney World.
I hope you enjoy your Disney vacation!
I would stay at the resort in the park… like the Disney resort.
I believe you do get to either enter the park earlier or leave later. If you stay at the Disney resort… you will just park at the hotel and then a bus will take you to the park.
I would book the trip with a travel agent. It may seem like more work but they can actually get you better deals and cheaper prices than if you book online.
Plus, resorts have more stuff to do then the Holiday Inn would. There is always something going on.
I would recommend the animal kingdom resort… its really fun. They have giraffes and zebras and
such right outside your window. Or you could go with the Music Hotel… I think its like MGM styled. Its also a lot of fun. We have been to other ones but those are our favorites. Have fun:)

Do you get to stay at the park later?
Yes on site guest are can enter 1 hr early and stay 3 hours later per the extra magic hours schedule.
Are there discounts on tickets to the parks?
No However WDW offers package specials during now peak times of the year such as free dining or pay for 4 stay for 7 (pay for 4 nights in select resorts and receive 3 nights free)
Do you get free parking?
Yes

LOL the Holiday Inn website is miss leading IMHO. It claims that they are in the heart of Walt Disney World when in fact they are in the Downtown Disney Resort area which is actually right on the edge of the property.

Check mousesavers for specials and book only through an authorized disney specialist:

yes you do get to take advantage of "extra magic hours" if you stay in a disney world owned and operated hotel. each day one of the parks either opens 1 hour early or stays open 3 hours late just for disney world owned and operated hotel guests.
no you do not get discounts on tickets.
and yes you get free parking at the hotel and at the theme parks/water parks if you stay in a disney world owned and operated hotel. plus there is transportation that is free to everyone (you don’t have to be a disney world owned and operated hotel guest to use it). you can use the transportation that includes buses, boats, and a monorail system to get you anywhere in disney world.
here is a link to disney world resort benefits directly on the disney world website:

yes there are non disney world owned and operated hotels on disney world property but there are only 4 non disney owned hotels that offer SOME of the disney world resort hotel benefits. they are the swan hotel, the dolphin hotel, shades of green, and the hilton. holiday inn does not have benefits.
i recommend staying in a disney world owned and operated hotel. depending on what your budget is these are the ones i would suggest
value resorts (least expensive)-POP CENTURY
moderate resorts (more expensive)-PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER
deluxe resorts (most expensive)-CONTEMPORARY
i’d recommend booking through disney directly or through AAA. you don’t have to join a club of any kind to book directly through disney and they are the experts and can easily answer all of your questions. (even if you don’t book through disney directly you can still call them with any questions you might have and they will be more than happy to answer them). if you are a member of AAA you may want to book it through them cuz if there is not an offical disney promotion going on AAA offers a 20% room rate discount. and with AAA you get a couple little extras too such as a special charater story time and preferred viewing of the afternoon parade in magic kingdom.
i suggest you look at disney world website to explore what they have to offer:

You need to stay in a Disney Value Resort if you are looking to save money, which is in one of the Three All-Star Resorts. (Pop Century, All-Star Movies, & All-Star Music). These three resorts are on-site, and come with the best deals. There are certain discounts on tickets when you stay in a Disney Resort, such as 10-20% off your ticket purchase. Other benefits of staying in a Disney Resort are:
Extra Magic Hours –
Extra Magic Hours allow you to enter a Disney theme parks 3 hours earlier in the morning OR stay in the park for up to an extra THREE hours into the evening. This is a very neat option for the early risers or people who can stay up all night.
Free Transportation –
By staying in a Disney Resort, you are able to catch a bus that will take you on free rides to and from all 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, Downtown Disney and Disney Quest, and any other Resort.
Anyways, if you stay in a Disney Resort, the whole thing is so much more Disney-Themed!!! ‘
Whatever you choose to do, I strongly suggest the All-Star Resorts. Have fun when you go to Disney and good luck! (:

Hello I have booked my families trips to Disneyworld 5 times now and we live in California. On our very 1st trip to WDW we did use AAA because we were clueless but on our 2nd trip when I booked everything on my own I realized that it was a bit cheaper.
On the Disneyworld property I recommend Pop Century Resort as a Value resort choice or The Carribean Resort as a Moderate resort choice. No need to rent a car use Disney’s free bus transportation to the parks and any where with in the WDW property. Also a nice Disney bus picks you up from the Orlando airport upon arrival and takes you back to the airport upon departure…so no need to rent a car!! My family also gets the Basic Dining Plan which is a great money saver on food. You get breakfast or lunch, a snack, a restaurant style dinner…at any location you want with in the parks and resorts…you get a great list of options & save $$! My family also saves money by getting the Magic Your Way Park Tickets because they are cheaper than the park hopper tickets. We also plan our trip to be 6 days long…2 days count as traveling days & 4 days count as Disneyworld days. WDW has 4 great parks, so 4 days is great to enjoy one day at each park!
I book our hotel, park tickets, & dining plan @ the Walt Disney World website.
I book our airfare @ Southwest Airlines.
**By booking your disney trip online you get Disney Magical Express for free which is the free Disney bus transportation from the airport right to your Resort and back.** You also get yellow tags mailed home to you that state which hotel you will be staying at..you place them on your luggage..then once you arrive at the Orlando Airport Disney crew pick up your luggage & magically deliver them straight into your hotel room & we have never had any missing luggage!**
Hope this helps some!!
